ART WORLD EXPO THANKS YOU FOR 9 YEARS AT SCIENCE WORLD IN VANCOUVER, BC!

by Monika Blichar

Marie-Helene Babin Make Up 1st Place 2015 Theme Fairy Tales

Thank you to everyone who made our last event at Science World such a great success! We appreciate all of you so much! It’s because of all our guests, fans, sponsors, volunteers and family who come from all over Canada to come help out each year that this event is possible!

Stay tuned for a compilation of our photos or head to our FACEBOOK PAGE to see some photos as they are being released from event photographers and media!

WE MADE IT TO OUR 10TH ANNUAL EVENT BECAUSE OF ALL OF YOU, YOUR HARD WORK AND YOUR PATRONAGE FOR THE ARTS IN WESTERN CANADA!

One of Chris Collacott’s images of Telus World of Science. He exhibited his work with us in 2010-2014.

From the moment we started Art World Expo, we knew that the venue had to be a special one. When I thought of what kinds of cool venues there are in Vancouver, I knew that Science World was a special place. It’s iconic history and placement within the city’s most central location made it an easy choice as the venue for our Vancouver show. It truly has been an amazing run at this venue! We have met so many amazing people and have hosted over 1,000 aritsts, vendors, performers, and body painters via this event in Vancouver alone. That’s pretty spectacular!

Eager guests intrigued by the annual body painting competition which has been running annually since 2010 and is also now running in Edmonton!

All good things must come to and end, they say! On the contrary, we are not ending our event, we are just making it bigger and better for 2020! Our next location is The Pipe Shop at the Shipyards! Mark your calendars for April 3, 4, and 5, 2020 for our first multi-day event happening on North Vancouver’s premiere waterfront venue which is host to an array of cultural activities including the Friday Night Shipyard Markets and events like the Polish Festival and more!

Early bird registrations for vendors and event tickets are available until May 31, 2019! Don’t miss out on being part of making history and being in our new location as a vendor or a guest in 2020! We are all so excited and look forward to the new location and all the new opportunities it will bring our show.

Join us at our annual Art World Expo event at our new location “The Pipe Shop” at the Shipyards. Your early bird ticket includes a three day pass to the event on April 3, 4 and 5, 2020 as well as entry to the Art World Expo Friday Night Gala & 10th Annivesary Party! Our show is now in its 10th annual year and we want to see you all there!

Thank you all again for a fantastic run at Science World for 9 years! I look forward to putting together the 10th Annual Art World Expo and our 10th Anniversary Party over the next 11 months. You all have truly inspired me to keep going all these years and I am so looking forward to the future of what Art World Expo will bring to the North Shore and to many new cities in 2020.

Surf Art? Yes Please!

By Monika Blichar

I always love meeting new artists and sharing them in our network. This time, I catch up with Lindsay who has a daring sense of adventure in her art and life!

Lindsay graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Television Film and New Media then proceeded to get her MAED at University of Phoenix. Lindsay is from the Hollywood area where she worked at DreamWorks as well as other film companies and eventually took on her own clients. Some clients include Marriott, US Hanger Company, Hilton, San Diego Rescue Mission, Pussers and many more!

“My work is shows the compliments of coastal living and the carefree lifestyle of surfing. I like to do work with passion that shows the beauty of the sport of surfing becoming one with nature. I like to show how creative nature’s beauty can be. I live outside of the DC area and was born and raised in southern California which I am constantly coming back to. I create ocean art, accessories and jewelry. www.BlueFusionSurfArt.com Paradise Found is a favorite spot in Kauai.”

AWE Interview-Jen Hiltz for GypsyTrunk Gourmet Fare Food Truck

By Monika Blichar

1-What inspired you to start your GypsyTrunk Gourmet Fare Food Truck?
I worked for a retail store for 12 years & just felt I had much more to share with the world so I quit my job, sold my belongings & went on a road trip in my smart car for around 5 months to do some “soul searching”. Food/cooking/veganism was a huge passion of mine so when I found myself house sitting on salt spring island, I began playing with recipes & posting them to a blog page on my website along with photos from my experiences on the island. I began making a menu with the intention of creating a catering Monday-Friday meal program but I found myself procrastinating due to all the details that I decided to go the food truck route instead and just concentrate on a more simple menu.

2-Being a culinary artist, what inspires you most about food?

Experimenting & playing with the different colours, textures & cooking styles of simple plant based ingredients – Whole grains, beans, nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruits, oils, vinegars & herbs.

3-What are your favourite vegan ingredients?

I’d have to say for “treat” vegan items – I LOVE the cheesy flavour of nutritional yeast. On popcorn, in soups & sauces, eggless salad, etc.

Cashews because they are soooo versatile. Can used them blended up in pasta sauces, soups, vegan versions of sour cream, cheesecakes, mylks, dessert cream (to have with fresh fruit), yogurts, toasted as garnishes on meals, etc, etc.

4-What are your long term goals for your Food Truck business?

To be honest, I don’t really have a long term plan for my food truck business. I would love to eventually have a base of operation in Abbotsford where I live, where I can have a cafe/retail storefront.

5-What advice would you have for other food truck or culinary artists looking to start a business?

If you’re gonna do it, you’ve gotta give it your 110% for sure & you’ve gotta love what you’re doing. It’s a lot of physical/office work, long days, commuting to get to/from events & stock/supplies, a lot goes on behind the scenes just to be at one event. Make sure you choose a unique feature item that nobody else has & that people want. I always find Pinterest a great inspiration for ideas. 😉

Artist takes you through a journey of his work by eBook

Joe Bloch, the owner and resident artist at CREATIVEBLOCH, takes us through an artistic journey as he compiles art, sketches and photography into a fun eBook.

“I’ve had a lot of requests from fans visiting the studio to create a book showcasing some of my work along with techniques and insights I’ve had along the way. This is a big project, so I’ve been compiling some old pictures, sketches and paintings along with descriptions to create an eBook. The great part about doing an eBook is that it can grow organically as projects are completed and be published instantly. The old methods of “completing” a book, publishing and waiting are over. The eBook will allow me to constantly update it, refresh it, and incorporate more feedback from my amazing fans. I hope you will enjoy it.” Joe Bloch.

“Joe has created an interesting perspective of his work, showing fans a behind the scenes look at what inspires his art, and the steps to complete the work. His artwork is a mashup of street art, graphic design, impressionism and expressionism. It’s like heavy metal on a canvas.”

“This ebook shows the true Brooklyn Industry and history of NYC in its raw form. Joe has embellished the architecture of the area with his own creative spin. I found the eBook a great reference for my own work.”

Art World Expo: Vancouver Art, Fashion & Body Paint

When people think of Vancouver, most think of mountains, trees, ocean and, high priced real estate! If you aren’t from here, you probably won’t hear much about the huge pool of talent that lies within our city bounds unless you are a savvy collector or art buff.  One of the amazing  thing that we get to do each year is feature amazing artists, designers and musicians. Among some in this year’s show include Nancy Perreault, an eclectic and wild designer who is humbly making waves in the city and beyond. Guests can expect a range of designs that range from ready to wear to a glamorous party to wild, one a kind pieces perfect for glass cases on walls. Another highlight each year is the emtertainment. Among some of the great performers, Art World features some 20-30 performers each year including musicians, dancers, jugglers, hula hoppers, actors and of course musicians. Some of the artists performing this year include Gayle Arnold’s two person band The Strangest Days, as well as Kara Lockwood Music. In the past, we’ve highlighted local musicians including first time performers like Mat Walach to veteran rockers Bif Naked and Doug Fury. We pride ourselves in sharing local talent in all stages of their careers.    Another highlight of the show is our auction. Not only do the proceeds help support arts based initiatives such as arts programs for kids and adults, funds are also used to produce art exhibitions and support artists in the event. Guests can expect to bid on everything from hotel packages and BC activities and adventures to art from artists in our show and beyond!  This year, we are giving away two tickets each week when you repost this image and hashtag #artworldexpo! Body paint by Jess Hawkins. Line up!  Gary Weston 2014. Glamour Noir theme this year. Consider purchasing a mask this year by Coastal Storm Gallery. $20/ea or included in a VIP ticket.

Guests can bid on amazing items and services in the auction.
